On 1st January 2010 Växjö University and the University of Kalmar will merge to form Linnaeus University. The new university will be a modern, international university with emphasis not only on the desire for knowledge, creative thinking and practical innovations but also encouraging a sense of community within all areas of the university. Linnaeus University will have approximately 25,000 students.
Stockholm Design Lab is assigned to develop the brand strategy, comprehensive identity program and the communication campaign for the new university.
The new identity is inspired by Carl Linnaeus illustrations, publications and life values. His oldest known publication contains a sketch- made during his time as student in Småland- that is the inspiration for the new university symbol.
