Swedish AI pioneer Sana—a global leader in AI-driven, personalised learning—has been acquired by U.S. software giant Workday for approximately 10 billion SEK ($1.1 billion).
Known for transforming corporate learning through advanced AI and learning science, Sana worked with Stockholm Design Lab to redefine its brand strategy and identity, disrupting the traditional e-learning sector and raising global awareness. SDL collaborated closely with Sana’s design and product team, marketing, and management. Including a London launch communication campaign.
Founder and CEO Joel Hellermark called the sale “a victory for Europe, for beauty, for idealism and for us to care more,” adding that Sana’s flagship products—Sana Agents and Sana Learn—will now accelerate development on a larger global stage under Workday’s banner.
Since launching in 2016, Sana has raised over SEK 1 billion and rapidly grown its valuation. Workday, a leader in HR-tech serving more than 11,000 organisations worldwide, says the deal will enable a proactive, personalised AI experience for workplaces everywhere. Completion is expected in Workday’s fourth quarter ending January 2026.
